The National Weather Service says western Connecticut could see some gusty thunderstorms when a cold front moves in this afternoon and evening.
The best chance of thunderstorms are in the afternoon and continuing to 2 a.m. Thursday.
In its weather discussion, the NWS says, “Will have to monitor for any storms maintaining along working into the Lower Hudson valley, late today into this evening, as increasing instability and sufficient shear would support a strong to marginally severe storm with wind/hail threat. At this point, appears activity will be limited.”
Showers will overspread the region this morning, moving east this afternoon.
High temperatures will be closer to average, ranging from around 70 along the immediate coast to near 80 inland.
“As a trailing cold front approaches, there will be a chance for a few gusty thunderstorms from New York City north with mainly a few showers farther east,” the NWS says.
Skies will clear late tonight in the wake of the cold front, with overnight lows in the mid 50 to mid 60s.
Thursday will be a dry, breezy and warm day between the departing frontal system and high pressure building to the west, Daytime highs will rise into the mid to upper 70s across the interior and lower 80s to 85 along the coast.
