STAMFORD — An escaped robbery convict was captured this week on the city’s West Side.

Stamford police say they received information that Christopher Williams, 22, had escaped from a state Department of Correction halfway house and was hiding on Myano Lane.

Lt. Michael Noto said officers surrounded the home and a woman who lived there claimed Williams was not inside. However, as officers were talking to her, Noto said Williams tried to escape from the back of the house.

Noto said officers were waiting and took Williams in custody after a brief struggle.

Williams was charged with resisting arrest and released to the custody of state police to be remanded back to custody of the Department of Correction.

Williams pleaded guilty in November 2015 to an armed robbery in Stamford. He was sentenced to three and a half years in prison, followed by five years of probation, court and newspaper records show.

Noto said a concerned citizen tipped police off to where Williams was hiding.
