Teaching experience isn't necessary, just a desire to help students prepare for their futures.

Volunteers go to the school to meet with the students once a week for 45 minutes, for five to eight weeks, depending on the grade level.

Person to Person provides emergency assistance to families in New Canaan, Darien and Stamford.

The organization need volunteers for its emergency food pantry, community clothing center, van rrivers and reception center.

Training for all areas is provided and hours are flexible. Volunteer opportunities are available for regular weekly shifts, or for one-day projects or events such as the food drive from 1 to 4 p.m. on May 14.

Christian Community Action, Norwalk, is in need of volunteers to help daily stocking donations on shelves and food distribution from its food pantry in South Norwalk from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday to Friday and the second Saturday of each month. The organization also has an ongoing need for furniture movers to pick up used furniture from donors and deliver it to the CCA storage room or directly to clients. This can be a one-time volunteer opportunity or ongoing. They also need a receptionist to greet and direct clients and to assist with some administrative duties.
