Calls must be made at the agency and training is provided. Hours are flexible between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday -- one day or few hours/week for two months. Volunteers are also needed to watch young children on Mondays from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. while parents attend onsite workshops to develop effective parenting skills for three months. Time commitment is approximately three months and experience with children is necessary.

RSVP needs volunteer drivers for Meals on Wheels in Norwalk for less than two hours once a week. Must have own car and driver's license.
RSVP also needs volunteers to drive seniors for ITN Coastal CT and for Westport/Weston Medical Transportation Program.

FISH, an organization that offers Norwalk residents transportation to their medical appointments (without charge) within Norwalk, needs volunteer dispatchers and drivers.
Dispatchers, taking calls in their own homes, receive requests for rides and schedule the drivers. Drivers, using their own cars, transport the clients. Mileage may be reimbursed; FISH carries driver and passenger insurance. Dispatchers work from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; drivers from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers can choose the day they prefer to work.

The American Red Cross Mid-Fairfield County Chapter needs volunteers (high school students and adults) to work at community and corporate blood drives in Norwalk, Westport, Wilton and Weston. Volunteers assist donor aides, serve refreshments and observe donors for reactions after they donate blood.
Information sessions are held in both the Norwalk office at 596 Westport Ave., and at the Bridgeport office at 158 Brooklawn Ave. (dates are available at www.mfcarc.org)
