NCCF invites public
to annual meeting
To the Editor:
We are honored that Bob Seelert, chairman of Saatchi & Saatchi, will be our guest speaker. In 2009, Bob authored "Start With The Answer," a collection of 94 real-life stories from Seelert's 40-year career as CEO of five companies in three different industries. His book reveals transformative insights and practical instruction for anyone who wants to succeed as an executive, business leader or entrepreneur. The topic of Bob's remarks is "Start With the Answer -- Philanthropy."
Also at this meeting, the foundation will introduce the incoming officers of the board of directors, and welcome incoming president, Cindy Charas. Retiring board president Julianne Grace and other board members will present an update on the latest accomplishments of the Foundation in 2010. Light refreshments will be served at the meeting.
The New Canaan Community Foundation is YOUR Community Foundation -- dedicated to providing for the charitable needs of New Canaan now and in the future. NCCF provides a vehicle to enable charitably minded citizens to make a gift which benefits the present as well as the future. New Canaan is lucky to have this resource right at home. We are the only town in Fairfield County that has a community foundation dedicated exclusively to one town and its residents. For more information about the event, please contact the office at 203-966-0231.

To the Editor:
As we enter 2011, the Getabout Board of Directors would like to thank members of our community who have so generously supported Getabout this past year. We had a tremendously successful fall fundraiser in October. Thanks to the support of many New Canaan area businesses and residents, we set a new fund-raising record.
A special thank you to our generous sponsors: The Country Club of New Canaan; M Milestones; and New Canaan Wine Merchants. In addition to the strong endorsement of these sponsors, many local area merchants and supporters donated a wide array of silent auction items for the fundraiser, including alfya, Ananda Yoga-Anne Finan, Helen Ainson, Elizabeth Arden, Backstreet, Barbel Jewelry, Bead Boutique, the Bond Family, Jennifer & J.P. Bretl, Allison Caesar, The Caterers, Inc., Cherry Street East, Christine Simmons Portraiture, Chunky Pam's Sweet Shoppe, Lori Crowley, Culinary Works, Inc.-Julia Deane, Darien Ice Rink, Darien Sport Shop, The Glass House-Philip Johnson Foundation, the Henry Family, the Huidekoper Family, the Kemp Family, Lamakers, Pamela Lape, L'Armoire, Lemongrass, Bill Lenihan, Bonnie McEneaney, George McEvoy, J.McLaughlin, Kassie & David Means, Elisabeth & Dan Mulhern, New Canaan YMCA, New Canaan Racquet Club, Marvin Newman, Noelle Spa for Beauty, North Star Restaurant, RoseMary Ogden, Susan Painter, Henry Reid Jewelers, Judi Panzano-Silpada Jewelery, Pennyweights, Le Petit Jardin-Elizabeth Auda, Nicoline & Stuart Sawabini, Scena, Second Nature Landscape Design-Heather O'Neill, Bill Sessions, The Roger Sherman Inn, Skirtin' Around, Gale Stafford, Wally Schwind, Stamford Symphony, Talbot's Inc., Trendsetters, Inc., Vineyard Garden Florist, Vineyard Vines, Walter Stewart's Wave, Westport Playhouse, Brian Williams-NBC, Ruth and Bob Witt and Zotos.
Thank you, as well, to many members of our community for your generous support of our 2010 Annual Appeal. As we end 2010 and look ahead to 2011, New Canaan and the surrounding area have continued to demonstrate heart-warming support of Getabout. We are blessed to have a community that understands the importance of an organization such as Getabout -- an organization whose core mission is "helping our own" seniors and those needing special assistance get around New Canaan, attend nearby doctor appointments, and simply enjoy life in this wonderful community -- without having to worry about transportation issues. Thanks to all for your ongoing, generous support of Getabout.
Best wishes for a joyous 2011.
