A school employee accused of sodomizing and repeatedly raping an underage student Monday pleaded not guilty in court. She walked in holding hands with her husband of three years.

Lindsey Jarvis, 27, started working as a paraeducator in 2016 at Veterans Park elementary school in Lexington, Ky., Lex18 reports. She's accused of having sex twice with a boy under the age of 16. She resigned after she was arrested.

Jarvis allegedly sodomized the boy in May 2016, when she was a social studies teacher at the Woodford County Middle School

She is charged with one count of rape third degree, one count of sodomy third degree and one count of unlawful transaction with a minor.

Documents obtained by the Kentucky outlet report that the "victim's cell phone contained correspondence" that pointed to a "romantic relationship" between himself and Jarvis.

"While we cannot comment on individual personnel issues, we can assure families and community members that we are aware of the matter. Our personnel protocols in a case like this would call for placing an employee on administrative leave pending resolution,"  school spokesperson Lisa Deffendall told WKYT.
