NEW CANAAN — Police have identified the woman found pinned beneath a car at a town residence.

Kathleen Hofer, 71, of Rye Brook was found dead, pinned under a vehicle at a home on South Bald Hill Road Tuesday.

“The investigation into this incident is still ongoing and being handled by the New Canaan Police Department Accident Reconstruction Unit. The State Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death,” read a statement from New Canaan police.

First responders were dispatched to 154 South Bald Hill Road at 11:58 a.m. Tuesday on a report of an unresponsive person pinned underneath a vehicle. On scene, emergency officials determined the victim had died. Officials are unsure how long the individual was underneath the vehicle.

According to town tax assessor records the house was purchased by Karl and Misty Hofer in 2017.
