As expected, the Nos. 1 and 2 teams in the state aren’t lacking for recognition on this year’s All-FCIAC team.

Top-ranked Darien boasts five members while second-ranked New Canaan has nine.

In the teams’ only matchup this season Darien outlasted the Rams 37-34 in an overtime classic on Thanksgiving morning.

Team members for each school:

QB Brian Peters—Stepping into the huge shoes Timmy Graham left Peters hasn’t missed a beat. The efficient pocket-passer has thrown for more than 2,500 yards as well as 27 touchdowns to just 7 INTs.

OL/DL Andrew Stueber—The Michigan-bound senior has proved he’s worth the DI offer. An impenetrable wall at LT, Stueber also recorded 39 tackles in an expanded role on the D-line.

P Dillon Jones—Punters hardly get recognized, especially on one of the more-prolific offenses in the state, but Jones is one of the best around.

RB/LB Finlay Collins—A true two-way star for the Blue Wave, Collins is a force at middle linebacker with 5 sacks and 11 tackles for loss. At RB the senior has rushed for 548 yards and 8 TDs. In the Turkey Bowl Collins has two rushing scores as well as the game-sealing pick in overtime.

RB/CB Ryan O’Connell—New Canaan’s Superman; O’Connell has scored 15 touchdowns and come up with 6 interceptions in his dominant senior year.

DL Jack Kircher—Coming in with high expectations from his coach, the soft-spoken Kircher has more than delivered. A powerful force in the run game, Kircher also recorded 5 sacks.

OL/DL Will Conley—The senior two-way star has helped form New Canaan’s stout front.

LB James Freyre—Undersized, but more than makes up for it in heart. Freyre leads the stingy Rams defense in tackles from his middle linebacker spot.

CB Tommy Root—The speedster has paired with O’Connell to form the best CB duo in the state, and has 5 interceptions to show for it.

S Jackson Appelt—Another Rams senior in the secondary; Appelt has anchored the Rams defensive backfield from his free safety spot and has 5 picks of his own.

QB Drew Pyne—The freshman signal-caller has more than lived up to the hype; throwing for 21 touchdowns in his rookie campaign.

OL Teddy Hood—The two-year stalwart at right guard has provided consistency for the Rams front.

OLB Andrew Bauersfeld—The do-it-all linebacker has 47 tackles, 5 for-loss, and 4 sacks.

DL Justin Plank—The defensive tackle pairs with Stueber to clog the middle. Plank has 2 sacks and 9 tackles-for-loss on the year. @reportedbytheAP
