Person-to-Person provides emergency assistance to families in New Canaan, Darien and Stamford. The organization needs volunteers for its emergency food pantry, community clothing center, van drivers and reception center. Training for all areas is provided and flexible hours are available. Christian Community Action, Norwalk is in need of volunteers to help with daily food distribution from the South Norwalk food pantry. The pantry is open from 9:30 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday and one Saturday each month. Volunteers arrive a bit early to be sure the shelves are stocked and then greet clients and collect and bag the food they will take home to their families. Volunteers also take care of food donations and help place these items on the pantry shelves. CCA also has an ongoing need for furniture movers to pick up donated furniture and deliver it to the CCA storage room or directly to clients. This can be a one-time volunteer opportunity or ongoing. The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk needs volunteers at least 15 years old to work as gallery guides and for office and special-event assistance. Interviews for potential volunteers will be held Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. A training session will follow this spring. A $40 fee covers the costs of training materials and uniforms.
