Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County offers support for coping with loss
The holiday season can be a challenging time, particularly for adults who are struggling to cope with loss. New Canaan's Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County is sponsoring two six-week support groups on coping with loss during the holiday season. The groups will meet Mondays from Nov. 15 through Dec. 20 and will be held at the offices of Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County at the Health and Wellness Center of Norwalk Hospital.
One group will meet from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and the other will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The groups will be moderated by Visiting Nurse & Hospice interfaith minister and licensed clinical social worker Karen S. Judd, along with the agency's grief and bereavement counselor, Nanette Greene, MA, LPC.
"Grief is a simple word, and it's completely inadequate to describe the depth of loss that people experience with the death of a loved one," Judd said. "In the support groups we will discuss feelings of grief that well up during the holiday season and explore tasks for healing and strategies for coping during this difficult time of year."
The groups are free and open to the public; advanced registration is required. For additional information, or to register to attend one of the support groups on Coping with Loss during the Holiday Season, contact Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County at 203-762-8958, ext. 255.
A non-profit community organization, Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County provides professional nursing and support services in New Canaan and throughout Fairfield County.
