New Canaan's Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will offer an eight-week bereavement support group this winter to help adults cope with loss following the death of a parent.
The bereavement support group for those who have lost a parent will meet Wednesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 18 and will continue through March 7. There is no fee for participation.
"In this support group we will address common reactions to the death of a parent including depression, anger, fear, loneliness and guilt," said the Rev. Marti Bishop, an interfaith minister and grief and bereavement counselor with Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County. "While the death of a parent is an expected life cycle event, it is the loss of the most fundamental relationship in our lives and the effect can be profound."
The bereavement support group will take place at the offices of Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County in Suite 114 at the Health and Wellness Center at I-Park.
