Underage drinking on a school day leads to arrest

In an incident that sent a 17-year-old New Canaan girl to the emergency room at Norwalk Hospital, Kim D. Gray Jr., 22, of Valley Road was charged with four counts of distributing alcohol to a minor and three counts of risk of injury to a minor at 1:25 p.m. on April 20.
Police were dispatched to Dixon Park on Hoyt Street near East Avenue Tuesday afternoon after a caller reported a group of young adults traveling back and forth from Dixon Park to a black BMW parked on Hoyt Street and possibly drinking alcohol, according to police. Police said the officer who arrived on the scene immediately detected the odor of alcohol among the group, which, in addition to Gray, included a 27-year-old male from Guilford and four underage youths from New Canaan, including a 19-year-old male, a 17-year-old female, a 16-year-old-female and a 15-year-old female.
Police said Gray told the officer that he provided the vodka to the group.
Gray was held overnight on $10,000 bond and appeared in court the next day.
