Two charged after driver allegedly did not wear seat belt

NEW CANAAN — Police arrested a 38-year-old man from Derby, Conn. for driving with a suspended license after he was stopped during the town’s Click It or Ticket week.
On Nov. 22 at 3:54 p.m., an officer at a seat belt checkpoint on South Avenue saw Hector Morales of High Street allegedly driving without a seat belt. The officer pulled Morales over and smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. Morales’ front seat passenger, Roberto Martinez, of East Main Street in Bridgeport, admitted to having marijuana. The 28-year-old was issued an infraction for possession.
Morales was issued a misdemeanor summons for driving with a suspended license, failure to carry an insurance card and failure to wear a seat belt. He was released on a promise to appear in court.
