Guns, electronics, more than $50,000 worth of jewelry and other possessions were reported stolen during a daytime burglary in New Canaan in early December, police were told last week.

The 53-year-old Ferris Hill Road complainant called police Dec. 26 to report the burglary, which he said occurred between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Dec. 8 or 9. He said he didn't report the incident earlier because he was busy with holiday arrangements, according to the report.

Besides at least $50,000 worth of miscellaneous jewelry, he reported missing a .300 Winchester rifle, valued at $500; an $1,800 rifle scope, about $5,000 in miscellaneous crystalware, about $5,000 in silverware, two $2,000 MacBook Pro computers, a $500 antique clock and a $400 set of Sony speakers.

The resident told police there was no sign of forced entry and the alarm was not activated during the burglary.
