Police received a call from the library director about cash missing from two employees' purses, which were kept in a back room. The director told police it likely happened between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. The employees suspected that Zech, a new volunteer at the library, may have been the culprit because she left unexpectedly before noon and had one of the only purses in the back room from which nothing was stolen.
Police said she took $38 in total cash as well as some credit and gift cards. Police found Zech later and charged her with sixth-degree larceny.
