NEW CANAAN -- A 15-year-old boy received minor injuries after being struck by a car pulling onto South Avenue Thursday afternoon, police said.
Police Sgt. Carol Ogrinc said the teen was riding south on a sidewalk as he saw a car back out of a driveway near Bank Street.
Unexpectedly, a second car pulled out as the first car cleared the driveway and the boy pulled so hard on his front brakes that he flipped over the handlebars and into the driver's side door of the car as it was leaving the driveway, Ogrinc said.
The teen, who was given a warning for not wearing a bike helmet, was bleeding from the nose and had cuts on his face and a bruised wrist, Ogrinc said. He was taken to Norwalk Hospital to be checked out.
The driver was not ticketed.
