Synchro team to perform at YMCA
The New Canaan YMCA Aquianas synchronized swimming team will perform its 2010 award-winning routines at the New Canaan YMCA on June 13.
The show's title, "Night of Champions," is an appropriate tribute to the winning character of the hardworking team. The Aquianas have been the top team in the Eastern region for the last 10 years and have consistently placed among the most elite teams in the country.
The girls will swim routines they have perfected over the 2010 competitive season, demonstrating the skills of beginner swimmers all the way up to those competing at the international level.
"From the youngest intermediate swimmer to our most experienced athletes, the girls on this team show huge commitment to the sport," Jen Muzyk, the director and coach of the team, said. "It's gratifying to work with such a young yet focused group of athletes."
Like figure skating, synchronized swimming is a competitive sport that is entertaining to watch -- from the glitzy swim suits and upbeat music, to the explosive and dazzling lifts out of the water.
The show is on Sunday, June 13, at 4 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door, and are $10 for adults, $5 for children, and free for all those attending under the age of 5.
