Waveny Care Network's upcoming Swinging for Seniors golf and tennis outing will offer raffle prizes that currently value more than $14,000, according to Julianne Grace, raffle chairman.

Some of the donated items include: two nights at Trump International Hotel Toronto; custom golf irons; two nights in a suite at the Roger Smith Hotel in New York City; a hand-carved vase by William Sessions; a beauty bash for eight people provided by Benefit Cosmetics; gift certificates from Pennyweights; and lunch with Fay Vincent, former MLB commissioner. For the first time, a 2011 U.S. Open Championship Golf guest package for two will be available through a silent auction.

Additional raffle opportunities include a special golf raffle, which has almost doubled in size this year and now features 19 golf packages at courses including: The Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor, Laurel Links Country Club in Laurel, N.Y., and Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y. A 50-50 raffle will also be held the day of the event.

The Swinging for Seniors raffle is held during the reception and awards ceremony following the event's full day of golf and tennis.

"We are delighted and gratified by the response to Waveny's raffle," Grace said. "Many merchants donated wonderful prizes. New Canaan's local stores and restaurants represent the vibrant heart of our community. We urge everyone to support them in the same way they consistently support nonprofit organizations such as Waveny."

The ninth annual Swinging for Seniors outing will be held at the Country Club of New Canaan on Monday, May 23, and is open to golf and tennis enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. All proceeds go to Waveny's Resident Assistance Fund for residents and patients who cannot afford the full cost of their care at Waveny Care Center, The Village at Waveny Care Center and New Canaan Inn.

Sponsorship and player opportunities are still available, and participation at any level contributes to the continued success of the event.
