Rory Bernier, 49, of James Street, Norwalk, was arrested on Friday, March 15, on charges of third-degree larceny and three counts of third-degree forgery in connection with the recently reported stolen checks from a St. John's Place woman.

The woman reported to police on Friday, Jan. 11, that checks had been removed from her checkbook and used to make purchases in the amount of $11,000, according to police.

Between Dec. 19 and Jan. 2, four checks for different amounts were taken from the woman's account, according to the report.

Norwalk police picked up Bernier in the vicitiny of the Norwalk courthouse and brought him to the New Canaan Police Department where he Bernier posted a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, March 26.
