Jennifer S. Verrastro of Stamford turned herself in to police in relation to a fraud case Oct. 12 at 7 a.m.

Police were first notified by the 67-year-old female owner of the New Canaan business she worked for. Verrastro was in charge of the money keeping and ledgers of the business. Police said Verrastro had been changing around the numbers in the books while slowly taking money for herself .

Since February of 2007, the earliest date police could find discrepancies in accounting, Verrastro had stolen approximately $15,655. She was charged with second-degree larceny.

She did not post $25,000 bond and appeared in court later that morning.
