Stamford man allegedly drove drunk
NEW CANAAN — Police said a Stamford man who drove through a stop sign March 9 was under the influence of alcohol.
Matthew Maguire, 27, of Sleepy Hollow Lane, was charged with drinking while driving, driving under the influence, failure to obey a stop sign, and failure to drive right.
An officer saw Maguire drive through the stop sign on Ponus Ridge Road at Frogtown Road around 9:40 p.m. He said there was an odor of alcohol on Maguire’s breath, and he failed field sobriety tests.
Maguire was released after posting a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court March 23.
