At the Discovery Hour on Sunday, Sept. 25, Fred Elliot and members of the Saint Luke's Church Haitian Action Team will discuss their recent trip to Haiti and introduce the Haitian parish they have selected as a partner for Saint Luke's.

The program will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Parish Hall.

Following the devastating Jan. 12, 2010, earthquake that rocked Haiti, Saint Luke's formed an Haiti Action Team with two objectives to fulfill. Those objectives were to provide immediate support and to establish, if feasible, a long-term partnership with a Haitian parish to help them recover from the quake's aftermath.

In late May, a group of Haitian Action Team members visited five "mother churches" seeking a partner. After much discernment, prayer, challenges and discussion, the church has a partner.

"We looked at where Saint Luke's could have the most impact, where our many talents could best be utilized, where we could nurture, grow and share God's gifts and blessings to the best of our abilities with an affiliate," group officials said.
