Splash of Pink, Lisa Wexler team to salute Breast Cancer survivors
The Breast Cancer Survival Center will kick off October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month with its 11th anniversary Celebrate Life! fashion show and brunch at noon on Sunday, Oct. 3, at Shore and Country Club in East Norwalk.
Splash of Pink, the Lilly Pulitzer signature store in Westport, is providing the clothes for the models, all of whom are local cancer survivors. Radio personality and author Lisa Wexler will serve as the celebrity emcee.
Splash of Pink owner Amy Cesaratto of Southport sis excited about the new collaboration with BCSC.
"Lilly Pulitzer has been a long-time advocate for breast cancer awareness, so I am delighted we're providing the clothes for this year's Breast Cancer Survival Center fashion show," she said.
More than just the pink and green prints that most people associate with the Lilly Pulitzer line of clothing, the Oct. 3 show promises to feature several surprises, including a line of work-out clothing. As always, the fashions will be worn by superstar models who are all cancer survivors. Male models from the Gedney Agency in Fairfield will serve as escorts for the models.
Wexler, whose program airs daily from 4 to 6 p.m., is a practicing attorney as well as sister of one of Bravo's Real Housewives of New York City, Jill Zarin. She's also the author, with her mother and sister, of "Secrets of A Jewish Mother."
The Breast Cancer Survival Center is the only direct-service program in Connecticut exclusively devoted to post-treatment issues for survivors and their families, and operates at facilities generously donated by Norwalk Community College and Soleil Toile in Westport.
This fundraiser helps to provide survivors' group meetings and special speakers, weekend and day retreats, a quarterly newsletter, as well as events tailored specifically for families of survivors.
In addition to the brunch and fashion show, Celebrate Life! will also include an opportunity to shop at BCSC's "Sock It To Breast Cancer" boutique.
A limited number of tickets, at $65 each, are still available. To make a reservation, call 203-857-7304, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org, or visit www.breastcancersurvival.org.
