Silvermine Arts Center in New Canaan, will hold its annual holiday show and sale featuring original works of art and crafts made by the faculty and students of the Silvermine School of Art.

The show, which is open to the public, will take place Saturday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 4, from 1 to 5 p.m.

Gifts are available in a variety of media. Works include ceramics, prints, paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, ornaments, fiber arts and wearable art such as jewelry, scarves, felts hats and handbags. The fundraising event will also feature original artworks of small paintings and drawings, ready to hang.

In the spirit of the season, a portion of the proceeds from all sales support the School of Art Children's Scholarship Fund. Last year, the Silvermine School of Art awarded a total of 60 scholarships to children ages 5 to 17 on the basis of financial need, providing young artists an opportunity to further their creative talents. The school hopes to increase that number this year.

The Silvermine School of Art is an award-winning nonprofit organization that fosters, promotes, and encourages artistic and educational endeavors. Courses and workshops are available throughout the year and are designed for full and part-time students of all ages and levels, from beginners to professional artists. In addition to the adult program, the school features courses for juniors and youth, Summer Art Camp and classes for young children and parents to experience art together. Many of the faculty members of the School are Silvermine Guild Artist members, and former as well as current students have also been elected to membership in the guild.
