Senior citizen victim of Microsoft scam

A 66-year-old female New Canaan resident reported fraud April 18 at 1:54 p.m.
Police said the complainant received a call from a male voice April 5 claiming to be from Microsoft.
The voice told her his name was Franklin and her computer was infected. He told her the computer was displaying error codes on the Microsoft server. She was advised by Franklin to download a program that would give him access to her computer.
She purchased the software for $145. Soon afterwards, the complainant and her 82-year-old husband purchased a new computer.
Franklin called back April 18 telling them to purchase the software for the new computer. The husband got suspicious and hung up.
