Sandals 'fell' into shoplifter's bag
Store employees of the Athletic Shoe Factory on Forest Street confronted a woman they claimed put sandals into her bag while browsing on Tuesday evening, Sept. 18. The woman, Donna Rubin, 62, of Pinewood Road in Stamford, opened her bag to the employees, and upon noticing the sandals sitting atop other things in the bag, surmised that the sandals must have fallen into the bag while she was shopping, police said.
A further inspection of the bag by the store employee found an Under Armour tank top and a RESE jacket folded neatly at the very bottom, beneath other items. The woman claimed that she had purchased the tank top and jacket items previously, according to police.
