The Summer Theatre of New Canaan will hold auditions for its productions of "Disney's High School Musical 2" and for "Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" on March 10 and 31.

"We are very pleased to offer these two great experience for children to perform and learn from trained professionals in a terrific summer theatre environment" Artistic Director Melody Libonati said.

The Summer Theatre of New Canaan has planned a family-friendly festival season this summer which also includes "My Fair Lady," "Wizard of Oz" and "Pinkalicious: The Musical."

The theatre invites children 8 to 12 to audition for the children's ensemble choir in its professional production of "Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," to be performed at the Waveny Park Theatre Festival from July 14 to Aug. 5.

STONC is double casting 15 children for this production. Rehearsals begin June 26.

STONC is also auditioning middle school age children for its Junior Company to perform in the production of "Disney's High School Musical 2." The Junior Company rehearses for three weeks, Monday through Friday afternoons (2 to 4:30 p.m.) and performs all roles. Rehearsals are run by professional theatre artists to present a full production to the public on June 27.

The program runs July 9 to July 27. The Junior Company is an educational tuition-based program. Casting 25 students entering fifth through eighth grades. Participation in the program is open to all and it is expected to fill quickly.

All children auditioning should be prepared to sing 16 to 32 bars of a song to demonstrate their voice. Children should bring sneakers or dance shoes as they may be asked to participate in some dance/movement as well. Audition times for the Junior Company are 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 10, and 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 31. Audition times for the musical Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat are 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 10, and 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday March 31.
