NEW CANAAN — Police arrested a 61-year-old Ridgefield man on drunk driving charges after he was clocked driving 65 miles per hour in a 45-mph zone.
On April 21 around 4:45 p.m, a patrol officer saw a car being driven by Clifford B. Browne attempt to pass another car on Smith Ridge Road by pulling into the northbound lane and then move back into the southbound lane. The officer followed Browne and found he was going 20 miles over the speed limit. The officer pulled Browne, a resident of Nod Road, over and smelled alcohol coming from his breath. The officer searched Browne’s car and administered a field sobriety test, which the Ridgefield resident failed.
Browne was taken into custody for driving under the influence and improper passing. He refused a blood alcohol content test, posted a $250 bond and was issued a court date of May 3.
