Ralph Lauren employee reports $2,700 in stolen merchandise

A female employee of Ralph Lauren, 51 Elm St., reported a larceny at the store April 27 at 6:41 p.m.
The woman told police that employees noticed a number of items, totalling $2,745, were missing after doing inventory later in day. The items included two PL foldable sunglasses at $425 each, one pair of non-foldable PL sunglasses, two crocodile belt straps at $425 each and three brown leather wallets valued at $250, $125 and $295 respectively.
Police said a display case containing the missing items was forcibly opened by breaking a locked hinge. Police observed the suspect on video surveillance footage, showing him break into the display case at 11:20 a.m. that same day.

The suspect is described as tall and thin with an olive complexion. He was wearing a tan sport coat, blue baseball cap with a large white C in front and blue jeans police said.
The matter is still under investigation.
