NEW CANAAN — Several roads were closed following an autumn wind and rain storm.
As of 11:30 a.m. on Monday, around 2,000 people or a quarter of the town’s Eversource customers were out of power, according to the Eversource website. As of Tuesday afternoon, over 200 customers were still without power.
New Canaan schools also had a two-hour delay due to multiple power outages and impassable roads.
According to New Canaan Police, Fox Run Road, Lone Tree Farm Road, Cheese Spring Road, Father Peters Lane, Silvermine Road, South Bald Hill Road, Carter Street and Rosebrook Road were all closed Monday morning with downed trees and wires. Most of the reports were received late Sunday night and Eversource was notified.
Police said Lambert Road was also blocked with downed trees and wires. Forest Street, the intersection of Wahackme Road and Weed Street and Spring Water Lane also had reports of downed wires and trees but remained open on Monday.
