Local artists will work "en plein air" from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 31, during Pop Up Art Day.

Sponsored by the Carriage Barn Arts Center and the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, the event is billed as a day to celebrate the arts.

In addition to watching the artists work, visitors can view artwork on display at New Canaan shops as part of the seventh annual Art in the Windows exhibition, which continues through June 8.

Art in the Windows features 71 artists in 59 New Canaan store windows and showcases paintings, drawings, prints, photography, mixed media and sculpture.

For children, there will be art activities in the Pop Up Park on South Avenue.

Photographer Carrie Brady will teach a workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. A variety of photography-related activities for all ages will be available. Photo collage materials will be provided to make creations.

Additionally, attendees may bring a camera or iPhone to complete a photo scavenger

hunt. Young explorers who participate in the scavenger hunt will receive prizes from the Candy Scoop.

From noon to 4 p.m., Nancy Scranton, a New Canaan art teacher, will be leading spring-themed crafts, including lollipop flowers and paper bag barn projects.
