New Canaan Police have increased patrolling in and around Waveny Park after a string of larcenies in the area.

According to Police, the first incident took place Sept. 18 when a 22-year-old female reported larceny for items taken from her car on Lapham Road. The victim and her father parked the car on Lapham Road and went jogging for approximately 30 minutes, police said. Upon her return, she found several items missing from her vehicle including a BlackBerry cell phone valued at $350, an iPhone valued at $400, a Swiss Army watch valued at $100 and a men's wallet with $300 cash and various credit cards police said.

There were no signs of forced entry and the victim was unsure if she had locked her vehicle, according to police.

The second incident was reported at 2:29 p.m. on Sept. 22. Police said a 45-year old female from Fairfield parked her car at 1:15 p.m. on the north side of the castle at Waveny Park. She left her purse on the passenger seat of the locked vehicle police said. She returned to her car at 2:20 p.m. to find the passenger side window smashed and her purse stolen. The black leather purse was valued at $350 and contained $200 cash, police said.

The third incident took place at 3:20 p.m. on Sept. 23 on the Lapham Road side of Waveny Park near the trails. A husband and wife from Stamford parked on Lapham Road close to the walking trails at 2:30 p.m. police said.

According to police, the vehicle was locked and a yellow purse left on the passenger seat. The couple returned at 3:20 p.m. to find the passenger side window smashed and the purse stolen, police said. Along with the purse, miscellaneous credit cards, a Canon camera, an LG cell phone and a Flip video camera were stolen.

Police are still investigating the incidents.
