Police: Man violated protective order
Jason C. Kempf, 37, of 123 Forest St., New Canaan, was arrested Sept. 10 on a charge of criminal violation of a protective order.
Police said Kempf violated the order not to contact his ex-wife when he called her and sent her several text messages. The 41-year-old woman, who lives in Ridgefield, reported the violation at around 5:30 p.m. Sept. 10, but she said he didn't make any threats, according to the report.
Kempf has been arrested several times since 2012 on charges that include second-degree burglary, second-degree threatening, third-degree criminal mischief, risk of injury to a minor, disorderly conduct, and third-degree strangulation, police said.
The most recent were on Feb. 24, when he and his sister were involved in an altercation that included him kicking a door open and threatening his brother-in-law, and March 25, when he was charged with criminal violation of a restraining order for texting his ex-wife about 45 times in one week, according to police.
Kempf turned himself in at 10:45 p.m. Sept. 10. He was held in lieu of $1,000 bond and was transported to court the next morning.
