Village Critter Outfitter, 107 Cherry St., is hosting an adoption event from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, geared to anyone looking to obtain a companion parrot or learn about how parrots are trained and placed in new homes.

Wilton Parrot Rescue, a home-based rescue organization in Wilton, finds permanent homes for surrendered and rescued companion parrots. It was founded in January 2010 and is an entirely volunteer-run and donation-dependent organization.

"We welcome Wilton Parrot Rescue for a chance to make a difference in finding abandoned parrots a new home," said Shirleen Dubuque, owner of Village Critter Outfitter. "These rescued parrots are truly unique and would make a great companion animal in the right household; we truly appreciate everything Wilton Parrot Rescue is doing to help these charming birds."
