P&Z to host public hearing on town's development plan
The Planning and Zoning Commission will conduct a public hearing Tuesday, Jan. 21, to discuss the town's 2014 Plan of Conservation and Development.
The POCD is a state-mandated document meant to guide growth and development in New Canaan over the next 10 years, according to the town's website.
The one-hour hearing will take place at the New Canaan Nature Center, 144 Oenoke Ridge, at 7 p.m.
Town Planner Steve Kleppin said speakers will be allotted three minutes to make comments. If there is extra time at the end, they will be allowed to make additional comments.
The POCD is broken down into two documents. The "Strategic Element" deals mostly with "big picture" strategies, while the "Implementation Element" deals with "specific steps intended to help implement the overall strategies," according to the town's website.
Town officials hope the implementation part of the document will be reviewed and updated every year and be amended as new tasks are identified.
