On the market: A secluded cottage
Location, location, location. The little house at the end of Parade Hill Road couldn't be better situated -- walking distance to town and at the end of a quiet, tree-laden cul-de-sac.
The cottage-like abode at 90 Parade Hill Lane, New Canaan, rests toward the back of an expansive front lawn generously staked with a botanical array of trees -- white birch, pine and one spectacular sample of red maple.
Closely surrounding the front is a thick garden of roses, sage, Japanese maples and other coverings.
The house has a partial brick facade and low-hanging roof that prides its cedar shingles up close. The house also has a security system, and a monitor alerts the occupants to visitors.

The double front doors are ornate antiques with handmade glass. Immediately inside is a tiled hall with twin chandeliers and a short set of stairs that sweep up to a nearby balcony. The vaulted ceiling has wood beams.
To the left is a living room with a wide-open arch joining it to the adjacent dining room.
The two share tract lighting and oak wood floors, while the living room has a large set of bay windows, looking out to the front yard, and a fireplace.
Off the dining room is an expansive kitchen that is not dominated by its modest counter space and sink-equipped island, but features a wide open room with two sets of French doors that lead out back.
The wood beams of the ceiling repeat in the kitchen, where there's another simple fireplace.
Out back is a pool surrounded by stone. A thick vine-covered pergola shades a large stone patio, which allows an opportunity to bask in the private seclusion of the yard.
Off the kitchen is a large family room, which is located over the attached two-car garage, that has a vaulted ceiling and French doors leading out to a balcony on the south side.
At the rear of the downstairs is a master bedroom with not only an enormous walk-in closet and grand recessed French doors, which open to the pool and its adjacent hot tub, but the bathroom, which has hardwood floors, has a fireplace. There is a separate shower, as well.
There are several rooms in the finished basement, which features a great deal of storage by way of one whole wall of sliding barn doors that hide about 100 shelves.
Upstairs, there are four bedrooms. Two of them share a Jack and Jill bathroom, while the bedroom at the top of the stairs has its own.
