Vincent A. Socci

Vincent A. Socci of Forest Street, a former Republican member of New Canaan's Board of Selectmen, died Sunday, May 9. He was 72.

A lifelong resident of New Canaan, Mr. Socci was a graduate of New Canaan High School, where he was active in sports and student government. His business interests in town for many years included various restaurants, the most recent of which was Matty's on Locust Avenue. He and his wife, Sue, also ran a catering business.

He also was a former president of the New Canaan Fire Company and was a member of the Poinsettia Club, an organization of local civic leaders.

Mr. Socci served on various Republican committees in the region and the state and he was an appointed member of the board of Charter Oak College, an online degree program that is part of Connecticut's higher education system.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at St. Aloysius R.C. Church.

Calling hours will be at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 14.
