"Notes in Midwinter," New Canaan Library's concert series, now in its 29th season, brightens wintry Sunday afternoons with free concerts featuring musicians and ensembles performing music ranging from chamber and classical to jazz and contemporary vocals.

Sponsored by the Music Committee, Friends of New Canaan Library, the series runs through Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. in the Adrian Lamb Room.

Upcoming are:

Jan. 20: Adrian Cunningham Jazz Quartet, honoring the history of the saxophone in jazz with works by Sidney Bechet, Stan Getz, Lester Young and others.

Jan. 27: Gavin String Trio, joined by Jonathan Yates on piano, performing Beethoven Piano Trio in B flat Major, Op. 11, the Dohnanyi String Trio, and Brahms Piano Quartet in C minor, Op. 60.
