NEW CANAAN — A 47-year-old Norwalk woman was charged with driving drunk after police said she fell asleep behind the wheel.
On Dec. 14 around 10:45 p.m., police said they received a call about a car stopped in the middle of the road in the area of Main Street and Farm Road. According to police, they arrived to find Maura Perrottelli, of Chipmunk Lane, asleep behind the wheel.
Officers said they woke up Perrottelli and smelled alcohol on her breath when speaking with her. The Norwalk woman failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody on a drunk driving charge. Perrotelli’s blood alcohol content was .166, twice the legal limit of .08, when tested at headquarters, according to police.
Perrotelli posted a $250 bond and was released. She will appear in court Dec. 27.
