NEW CANAAN — Two Norwalk teens were charged after allegedly stealing iPhones from backpacks at a New Canaan High School sporting event.
On Feb. 2 around 7:50 p.m., police said they were called to the gym at New Canaan High School on a report of stolen devices, taken from two separate backpacks left in the gym lobby. Multiple sporting events were occurring at the time.
Police said they reviewed video surveillance of the area and identified two suspects stealing the phones through a joint investigation with the New Canaan school resource officer, Norwalk school resource officer and the New Canaan youth sergeant.
On Feb. 21, both subjects turned themselves into police. A 16-year-old Norwalk boy was charged with fifth-degree larceny for stealing an iPhone 8 and a 17-year-old Norwalk boy was charged with sixth-degree larceny for stealing an iPhone 6. Both were served juvenile summons for their charges.
