Ashes to Go offered

at train station

NEW CANAAN — The clergy of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in New Canaan will be on hand from 7 to 8 a.m. at the New Canaan train station on Ash Wednesday (Feb. 14) to provide its annual “Ashes to Go” for commuters before they board their morning trains. St. Mark’s offers ashes to busy commuters if they cannot attend a traditional Ash Wednesday service. Every year, the clergy has been met with a very positive response from commuters.

The Rev. Peter F. Walsh, rector of St. Mark’s, said, “I always look forward to Ashes To Go. It makes my heart smile to see the people of our community going about their daily lives, and it is deeply humbling when someone stands before me for the imposition of ashes. For one moment, it is as though I can see the beauty of their souls.”
