"Hungry Monster," a colored pencil and watercolor painting by Pilar Garra, of New Canaan, took second place at "40 Under 40," an exhibition of works in all media at the Rowayton Arts Center.

The juried show was open to artists age 15 to 39. Award-winning artist Mark Macrides, who selected the winning artwork, said, "The exhibit is an exciting, eclectic mix of work by younger area artists. Subtle watercolors hold their own next to boldly colored oils and acrylics. Several dynamic sculptured and mixed media pieces add dimension to this wonderful variety of work. The diversity of subject matter takes one on a journey through space and time and to locations as diverse as Central Park at dusk and the streets of Guatemala."

The exhibit in the main gallery, 145 Rowayton Ave., continues through April 28.

The gallery is open from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. For information, visit www.rowaytonartscenter.org.
