NEW CANAAN — A 56-year-old New Canaan woman was arrested on a warrant after stealing $38 worth of cookies from an Elm Street deli.
On Oct. 25 around 8:15 p.m., police responded to a car accident without injuries in the area of Cherry and Park streets. Police ran checks of both drivers involved and found one of the drivers, Sheryl Moroch, had a warrant out for her arrest.
Moroch, of Milport Avenue, was wanted in connection to a larceny that occurred Sept. 29 at an Elm Street deli. Moroch allegedly stole Oreos, gingerbread cookies and a marshmallow cookie lollipop. Police were able to identify Moroch through video surveillance footage and through her credit card that she used to pay for other food at the store.
After being identified at the scene of the accident, Moroch was taken into custody on warrant charges of sixth-degree larceny. She was also issued an infraction for turning improperly, which resulted in the accident. She was released on a $2,500 bond and given a court date of Nov. 7.
