NEW CANAAN — Police arrested a town woman who turned herself in on a warrant after allegedly taking over $8,000 from her employer.

On Aug. 17 police responded to a complaint of larceny at Bow Tie Cinemas New Canaan Playhouse at 89 Elm St. According to police, corporate security reported that $8,359.80 was taken gradually from the company over time. After an investigation, police issued an arrest warrant for Janet Amezquita of East Hills Drive who was an employee of the cinema.

On Oct. 12 at 10:45 p.m., Amezquita, 40, turned herself into the police on the active warrant. She was charged with larceny in the third degree. Amezquita was processed, post a $10,000 bond and was given a court date of Oct. 25.
