NEW CANAAN — A 48-year-old New Canaan woman turned herself in to police on charges pertaining to an October car accident where she allegedly drove drunk at four times over the legal limit.

On Oct. 2 around 12:51 a.m., police responded to Silvermine Road and Carter Street where a car had veered off the road and into a stone wall. Police said they spoke with the driver, Elizabeth Moran of Silvermine Road, whose breath smelled like alcohol. Moran was brought to Norwalk Hospital to be evaluated after the accident.

Police subsequently issued a search warrant for Moran’s blood alcohol content at the time of the accident. Results alleged Moran’s BAC was .35 time at the time she crashed, four times over the state legal limit of .08. Police issued a warrant for the New Canaan woman’s arrest.

Moran turned herself in to New Canaan police on Jan. 10. She was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive right. She posted a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 24.
