NEW CANAAN — A New Canaan teen was taken into custody after he hid in a closet and refused to come out when police found him at an underage drinking party on Laurel Road.
Police received word of the party around 10 p.m. Aug. 3. Upon arriving, police saw teenagers with alcohol inside and outside the house.
Police located Griffin Edmonds, 19, a resident of the home responsible for throwing the party. Edmonds was issued a misdemeanor summons for possessing alcohol and permitting minors to possess alcohol.
While searching the home, police found Gene Bird, 18, hiding in a closet on the second floor of the home. Bird refused officers’ request for him to come out of the closet and speak with them about the party. As a result, he was charged with interfering with an officer.
Bird, of White Oak Shade Road, was taken into custody and released on a promise to appear in court Aug. 17.
