Sixty-four members of King's Class of 2012, 21 of them from Darien and New Canaan, stepped up and received their diplomas during the school's 147th graduation ceremony in June.

U.S. Rep. Jim Himes delivered the keynote address. Also addressing the assembly were valedictorian Michael del Genio, Head of School Tom Main and Senior Class Speaker Schneider Jean-Baptiste. The King's Choir and the Jazz Orchestra performed.

Earlier in the spring, 13 students were inducted into the Cum Laude Society. Modeled after the college honor society, Phi Beta Kappa, Cum Laude was founded in 1906 and is dedicated to honoring scholastic achievement in secondary schools. With more than 370 chapters worldwide, only the top 1 percent of secondary schools belongs to the Cum Laude Society. Among the inductees were New Canaan residents Kieran McQuilkin, class of 2012, and David Meyer, class of 2013.
