Despite being decimated by injuries, the New Canaan sixth grade Red team fought to a 28-6 loss against a high-powered Wesport team on a cool Saturday night in Dunning Stadium.

With many New Canaan starters sitting out, Wesport's wishbone offense proved too difficult for the Rams to stop. New Canaan defenders Kyle Karr, Grant Morris, Griffin Arnone, Gage Vasquez and Justin Greco all game up with hard hits in the losing effort.

Trailing 20-0 at halftime, the New Canaan offense came out firing on all cylinders to begin the second half. With their first and second string quarterbacks nursing injuries, the Rams ground game took over. Led by Arnone's running and some key blocks by Kyle Genzburg, Jake Ciancio and Nick Kortman, the Rams got on the scoreboard when Arnone snaked through the Westport defense for a 25-yard touchdown run. Westport responded by controlling the ball for much of the second half, eventually scoring again to increase its lead to 28-6.
