The New Canaan seventh grade Black basketball team had a busy weekend, going 2-2 while playing four games in three days.

Friday night's game was a nail-biter the whole way through, but a late 14-0 run by an aggressive Fairfield Red team sent New Canaan to a 56-53 defeat. New Canaan played well on both sides of the ball, but foul trouble plagued them down the stretch.

New Canaan rebounded on Saturday by cruising to a 66-21 win over Monroe. New Canaan jumped out early and was able to drive to the basket throughout the contest. New Canaan also executed a sound defensive game.

New Canaan played two games on Sunday, both against teams from Darien. The first game was a back-and-forth affair with Darien Blue. In the end, Darien had too much size and defeated New Canaan 47-42 behind a strong fourth quarter.

However, the New Canaan quickly bounced back from the defeat to hand Darien White a 40-31 defeat later in the day.

The busy weekend is followed by a few weeks off for the winter break. New Canaan resumes play on Friday, Jan. 6 against the Greenwich Flame in Greenwich.
