New Canaan resident charged with DUI

Police received a report of a man driving under the influence with two minors in the vehicle April 13 at 4:38 p.m.
Robert Avery, 59, of New Canaan was stopped while traveling on Deep Valley Road after police matched his vehicle with the description given. Avery was given field sobriety tests, which he failed, and was taken back to headquarters. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and risk of injury to a minor.
He was released on $10,000 bond and will appear in court April 24.
All of the charges are infractions with an answer date of May 11.
